Close cooperation with the athletes is an important part of the #customizeyourbrake philosophy. Partnerships with athletes have a direct impact on the development of new products – like the partnership with Downhill World Champion Loïc Bruni. Last year MAGURA presented a new lever blade prototype on Loïc’s world champion bike. The new blade was especially adapted to meet the special wishes of the world champion – a short 1-finger lever blade, a wide reach and a agressive braking feel. The new lever blade also offers comfortable ergonomics, especially for large hands.
Through the use of rapid prototyping the development team were able to realise very short production times without compromising the strength or weight of the lever.
The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process the lever is created by laying down successive layers of aluminium until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.
The process enables hollow spaces in the lever to save weight without losing any stiffness. The new HC Loic Bruni weighs only 16g.

The 3D printed raw lever is passing through several phases until it´s ready to ride. The final HC LOIC BRUNI is available for Carbotecture and Carbotecture SL brake masters. You can use the lever on all MAGURA MT models.
