LAURIN FCR 130

LAURIN FCR 130 - FAQ

1. Which disc brake standard do Magura suspension forks have?

Laurin, Menja and Odur have mounts for the IS 6" standard, and can be fitted with rotors from 160mm to 210mm.

2. Which steerer tube diameters feature the MAGURA forks?

All 2007 forks are only available with 1.8"  diameter steerer tubes.
The formerly offered service with 1" steerer tubes is no longer offered.

3. What can get changed in the "Customize program"

* The colour: There is a choice of nine colours of lower leg to choose from.
* The type of lower leg: There are lower legs without cantilever bosses F/D (with mounts for disc brake and the HS33 Firm-Tech), or C/D, (which is with cantilever bosses and disc brake mount), are both available.
* Remote lever: With the models Menja and Odur, that are sold standard without remote capabilities, can be fitted with a remote assembly, allowing you to change the DLO from the handlebar. In the same way it is also possible to have the remote, in the cases of the Wotan and Laurin, exchanged for a direct adjuster on the fork crown.

Choose your colour - you have 9 alternatives!
4. Is it possible to change a fork that already has DLO and Albert select, over to remote, (so that it can be adjusted from the handlebar)?

This is only possible by replacing the complete compression damping unit DLO or Albert Select. Resulting in a cost of over 100€, (£70). The cheaper option is to choose the remote at purchase. You can do this by taking advantage of the Magura Customize program that allows you to tune the fork you're buying to your every need.
from the compression damping unit, through the weight of spring to what colour the fork should be.
Those who've bought a fork with a remote but want to put their fork back to "direct" use will also have to buy the complete compression unit

5. Details about the weight?

Since December '06 the Laurin and Menja have been given lighter bushings, shortened stanchions, (adapted to the spring length), and owing to a new valving system needs less oil to achieve the same results, are approx. 120-150g lighter. (Depending upon the amount of travel).

Starting from serial number D27814 the forks are much lighter. Additionally they now have a number punched with the relevant stroke and stanchion length, on the lower surface of the shaft in the fork crown.

6. Is it possible to rebuild my fork,(Menja/Laurin/Odur) to a different length of travel?

Forks up to november 06:

These all have the same length of stanchions. The shorter travel (and fork length) is obtained by spacers in the left leg. Basically meaning that by adding or taking away spacers the travel in your Laurin/Menja can be changed from/to 130, 100 or 85mm.

To convert to:

130mm: no spacer
100mm: 1x 100 spacer
85mm: 1x 85 spacer

This rebuild can be done by either yoru local specialist dealer or as part of a yearly service by MAGURA.

Forks from december 06 (from serial number D27814)

The stanchions are made for the respective travel of the fork (in order to save weight for the shorter travel models). Although the 130mm forks keep the 130mm stanchions  and can still be reduced. The 100mm and 85mm forks have shortened stanchions and are not adaptable to another length of travel.

As from the serial number D27814, Menja and Laurin have new adapted stanchions. The fork crown assembly has a number showing the respective available stroke and stanchion lengthon the lower part of the fork shaft.

7. Can lowrider carriers be fitted to MAGURA forks?

No! Lowriders or any other type of panniers that attach using clips or adapters, of any kind, to the forks lower legs may not be fitted !
