JULIE hp - REVIEWS IN THE PRESS

1. MBUK writes in its March 2009 issue:

MAGURA's cheapest brake has had a complete makeover for 2009, turning it from a plastic bargain-basement option into a proper performer.
The main changes are high pressure (hence hp) brake hoses, heat eater connection, which swivels for easy alignment, post mount fitting and a lightweight drilled SL rotor.
Closed clamps mean grips have to come off to fit, but it snuggles up in or outside Shimano or Sram shifters fine. The mineral oil hydraulics are really easy to bleed and it comes with a confidence-boosting five-year leak-proof warranty.

Burning the pads in, in dry, clean conditions is vital but once cooked they last fairly well. Once bedded in, they've got MAGURA's typically firm feel, but teh forged lever is wobble and rattle-free.

Their power levels aren't far off the much more expensive Louise and Marta brakes either, certainly enough for aggressive use with the 180mm rotors we used.

At 462g a complete set, it isn't too heavy either and the pricing is certainly keen. There's no doubting MAGURA's cheapest brake has been reborn.

Performance: 7/10
Value:            10/10

A proper trail brake for the price of old discounted anchors.
