Gone for a dream – By bicycle from our hometown Basle towards the rising in Hanoi - Vietnam.

The first part of the route will lead us along the Danube through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, and Romania to the Black Sea. Following the coast we will get to Turkey via Bulgaria. Near Trabzon we will leave the Black Sea region and cycle through East Anatolia. Close to Maku we will cross another Eastern border and travel through Iran until we reach the Caspian Sea. From there we will follow the green coast for a while so that we can regain enough energy for the southern crossing of the desert. In Bandar-Abbas at the Indian Ocean we will take the ferry to Dubai. To go further east we will take the plane from Dubai to Mumbai on India’s west coast. From there we will make a west to east crossing to Chennai including a few detours and some mountain passes. Afterwards we will go up in the air again in order to reach Bangkok in Thailand. On the last part of our route we will explore South East Asia. A tour through Thailand, Cambodia and Laos will lead us to the crossing of our last border. After a total of approximately eight months we will arrive in Vietnam, where our final destination Hanoi lies.

Globetrotters - with MAGURAs around the world!

20 years ago the people still said: MAGURAs are great stoppers, but never ever I'd mount them on my long-distance touring bike, I do not want to be screwed up with that hydraulic stuff somewhere in a remote area...
Today, millions of brakes and trip kilometers later, serious globetrotters don't tackle any longer THE bike adventure of their life without MAGURAs on board - and they know why!

Below our Hall of Fame of the most impressive MAGURISTA globetrotters over the past few years - when you click on the pics you'll get them in a bigger size, when you click on the headline over the pics you'll get directly to their websites.

You plan the trip of your life on your bike and have a blog or, even better, your own website? Get in touch with us. The folks with the most interesting projects will be awarded with free MAGURA equipment for their bikes!

A journey of 30 years - the longest expedition ever documented in human history - that's our aim. Since 1991 we have now been on the road, as adventurers, film producers, photographers, authors, but mainly just as human beings, following the trail of our life project "The Great Journey". We have in the meantime covered 291.000 kilometres on the back of camels, horses, elephants, or even by foot, but also using local means of transport.

"many thanks to Magura. There are no better brakes for such an adventure as the HS33, any concerns about hydraulics can be thrown over board. neither heat nor cold, nor extreme height affects the performance. What is also extremely positive for an around-the-world trip, especially in areas without good bike shop, the brake pads last forever (almost)."

Let’s travel the world together!

We are a family who would like to travel the world with our children.

With all the possibilities of today’s mobility, we as adventurers will use bus, train, boat and plane… but for us the best and most intensive way to meet people, landscape and climate is when riding our compact bikes with children’s trailers in tow.

„MILES VS. CULTURE“

Our Vision is to create an enjoyable and child friendly travel experience. It’s not about the number of miles or kilometres we ride per day but about experiencing cultures.

As a British/German couple we met ten years ago in Australia. Both of us have travelled independently for more than a year and seen a tiny bit of the world. We want to pass our passion for other cultures onto our children to ignite their curiosity and encourage their openness.

The children had a lot of fun during our „test tour“ in Romania in 2010. We will complete our world tour before our oldest child starts school in 2012.

The globe lies open before him, Who waget nothing that can not hope.
(Friedrich Schiller, from Wallenstein's compound)

The "Journey to the horizon" was a dream, a crazy idea. Today it is reality, a conscious decision, a world tour by bicycle.

On 15 March 2009 in Oldenburg (Germany) we started. The goal: "the wide world". With the claim to cover the distance as far we can with the bike, to experience foreign countries and cultures, even or especially beyond the traditional tourist destinations. Wanted the inevitable encounter with the everyday, the unvarnished, the authentic life is the special quality and makes the trip inenarrable.
